Iranian ‘The Feast of the Goat’ to vie at Chinese fest

Iranian ‘The Feast of the Goat’ is to compete at the 2020 Macau Int’l Short filmfest in China.

Iranian short flick ‘The Feast of the Goat’ has been selected to compete at the 11th edition of the Macau International Short Film Festival in China.

Directed by Saeed Zamanian, the short film narrates the story of a city boy who makes friends with a goat out of loneliness.

Once, the goat is killed during a votive ritual, the boy cannot let go of the animal.

A tagline to the film reads, “Children never forget anything”.

Toumaj Danesh-Behzadi, Sepideh Dastineh, and Yazdan Kokabi-Saba are the cast members of the short film.

‘The Feast of the Goat’ garnered the Special Mention in Short Fiction Category at the 18th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.

It has also gone on screen at some global events, including the Almeria International Film Festival in Spain, the Kinofilm & Manchester International Film Festival in the UK, the Landshut Short Film Festival in Germany, the Taos Shortz Film Festival in the US, and the River Film Festival in Italy.

According to the Macau filmfest’s official website, “it awards the best short films in Fiction, Documentary, and Animation worldwide, motivating local productions and encouraging overseas productions to compete in Macau”.

The event, previously known as Sound & Image Challenge International Festival, is slated for December 1-8, 2020.
